Pack 111 Cub Scouts work on trails at Mt. Apatite
June 10, 2012
June 10th from 8-12 noon 8 cub scouts and 10 parents from Pack 111 gathered at Mount Apatite to work on the trail system. John Herrick leading the scouts and Dana Little from Androscoggin Land Trust worked together with everyone to improve a boggy section of the trail system. While they worked both hikers and bicylists came by stepping carefully through the mud. By noon time a section of the trail offered dry passage to anyone passing through. This same troop worked on another section of the trail last year and intend to do this project yearly. The young boys earned a National Conservation Award through participation in this activity. Mount Apatite contains 325 acres of tree covered hills, small brooks and a four mile hiking and biking trail making it Auburn’s largest city park.
