May 25-Evening Walk on the Garcelon Bog Boardwalk

Join Margi Huber, naturalist and Outreach Coordinator for the Androscoggin Land Trust, and Susan Hayward, Thorncrag Nature Sanctuary’s Environmental Educator and naturalist, for an evening on the Garcelon Bog boardwalk Friday, May 25 from 5:30 to 6:30 pm. This walk will highlight the ecological importance of this natural gem within the second largest urban area in Maine. Blooming wildflowers and singing birds will be highlights. The group will meet at the end of Russell Street Extension. This walk is free and open to the public and will take place unless there is heavy rain. Directions: From the Longley Bridge (former North Bridge) travel northward along Main St/Route 202 in Lewiston to the Veterans Memorial Bridge. Take a right onto Russell St. at the light. Continue on Russell St., going straight across College St at the light, going straight again across Central Ave, then going straight again across East Ave. At the light at the intersection of Russell St and Sabattus St., go straight onto Farwell St, and turn immediately left at Blais Barbershop onto Russell Street Extension and follow it all the way to the cul-de-sac at the end where you will see the Garcelon Bog sign. Parking is along the edge of the cul-de-sac.
